The UK Nollywood industry fell into mourning this weekend following the news of the passing of a much loved CEO, Dr Nnenna Ani.

In an Instagram post on Friday, her fiancé, Danny Erskine, wrote “I don’t know how to say this.

My fiancé has passed away. The last words she said to me is, baby am going to be strong so we can get married and start a new life together, please take care of the children”

Nnenna is thought to have died following a brief illness.

The Nigerian British nurse was best known as the founder of Nela’s Awards – Nollywood Entertainment and Leadership Award, which began in 2017 to celebrate celebrities and leader from all walk of life.

The 2021 edition only took place two months ago in December, in collaboration with her fiancé Danny Erskine.

A goFundMe page was created to commemorate her, as tributes flood in for the “bubbly wonderful soul”.

Artist, Jumabee, who was hosted at the 2021 event wrote on his Instagram; “Darkest friday, so this day will never be forgotten coz death has taken one of the calmest, prudent and energetic human i know Dr @nnennani1 CEO @nelas_awards_uk.

“Just this last xmas you honoured me in London at your annual event (NELAS AWARDS) your dream was bigger than the scope of life and i wondered how you juggled it all.

Though it was a short period of friendship as we were being introduced to each other by @kingsandchariots who told me how passionate you were and i didn’t see otherwise.

I can’t even type coz i really don’t understand what am typing but i sure know heaven has gained another angel #DEATHisWICKED#LIFEisCRUEL#NOTHINGisWORTHit”

Prince Williams who goes by the handle Kingsandchariot on Instagram wrote; “We lost a sister and a real good friend today, the intelligent and hardworking Dr Nnena Ani, it is painful but it is clear you are back with the Lord to whom you belong. A gem that won’t be forgotten your good words will be with everyone you came across.

Who would have thought all the visionary meetings would suddenly lead to a Eulogy. You were full of life with a lot of Positive Energy. I am glad you received your flowers for all the work you have been doing so far, you must know that we are all proud of you.

You celebrated people and you will be celebrated. You have lived your life like a candle in the wind, a short but impactful life. From Above continue to Smile on Nne, So long. Rest in power of the Lord God Most High. To all your family and friends I pray God Comforts them.
